Zoi and Mirtò is a vocal and percussion duo from Greece, based in Bern. Rooted in a long-standing friendship and shared curiosity, they explore the fusion of sound, movement, and performance through contemporary music, improvisation, and experimental approaches. Their work focuses on expanding the repertoire for voice and percussion, while exploring the unique timbres and expressive possibilities of this combination.

Zygós by Zoi and Mirtó

In their new creation „Zygós“, Zoi and Mirtó weave a soundscape where voice and percussion mirror and transform each other. The resonant instruments open up boundless spaces of vibration, into which the voice sinks, dissolves, and reemerges. Through imitation, echo, and interaction, the performers blur the boundaries between breath and metal, skin and tone. The voice echoes the percussion, the percussion echoes the voice, creating textures of drones and extreme dynamics, where the ear is left to guess the origin of the sound.

Artefacts #2 (2019)

Artefacts #2 führt die beiden konzeptuellen Ansätze zusammen, mit Hilfe derer ich das kompositorische Material meiner Arbeiten generiere: die Sugarcoating-Reihe, die sich mit den parametrischen Grundlagen von Popmusik auseinandersetzt (Reduktion und Gleichförmigkeit von Tonhöhen, Rhythmen und Texturen; die Arbeit mit Wiederholungen) sowie die Artefacts-Reihe, welche mit den unmittelbaren und sekundären Nostalgien spielt, die Popmusik auslöst. Dieses performativ extrem fordernde Stück basiert dabei auf einer Zusammenstellung der Top 20 Schlagzeug Intros; hauptsächlich aus berühmten Rock-Songs der 80er und 90er Jahre – beispielsweise von The Police, Nirvana, U2, Iggy Pop, Toto etc. Alle Stück der Artefacts-Reihe werden zusätzlich von einer Spotify-Playlist begleitet (namens „Artefacts Playlist“), die auch von anderen Nutzern um ihre Nostalgie-Referenzen erweitert werden kann.
